Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Italiano term or phrase:
statuto comunale
Inglese translation:
municipal statute, city bylaws
Italiano term
statuto comunale
City By-Laws perhaps anyway? Or simply Municipal Statute? I see g-hits for both.
This is the context:
An article of the statuto comunale is referred to in passing together with a sundry list of regulations that a Finance Director lists in a preamble to justify the awarding of an engagement to a consultant.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Non-PRO (1): writeaway
When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Though I posted a bit after the other answer, I shall keep mine and add
"Municipal Code" in opposition to Statue, given that we do refer to inherent bylaws within its structure.
municipal bylaw
Compare:
"Lo statuto comunale nell'ordinamento giuridico italiano è un atto normativo emanato ed approvato dal consiglio di un comune nel quale esso stabilisce il proprio ordinamento generale."
"Bylaw (sometimes also spelled by-law or byelaw) can refer to a law of local or limited application, passed under the authority of a higher law specifying what things may be regulated by the bylaw, or it can refer to the internal rules of a company or organization."
bylaw s. (dir.) legge locale; statuto municipale, statuto amministrativo

As for the questions "City By-Laws perhaps anyway? Or simply Municipal Statute? - the difference is a 'statute' often is constrained by national or federal laws, while as per above, a bylaw is "a law of local or limited application."
