I think that "siren song" - even in quotation marks -- makes little sense.
What is meant here is the fact that the man being described was level-headed enough to avoid being allured by enticing promises.
In this sense, I'd borrow from Emily Dickinson (borrowing from Homer, of course!):
The world allured me and in an unguarded moment I listened to her siren voice.
