Hi there, first of all thanks for taking the time to answer. This is a letter written by an IT private hospital accompanying their invoice and requesting payment, here is more context:
Si precisa che il seguente istituto (private hospital) ha decurtato dell'IVA di legge del 20% la fattura n XX datata XXX ai sensi dell'art 10 n 19 del DPR .........

So I assume that the VAT has been deducted? Perhaps as the invoice is to be paid by an organization outside Italy?

Bit more context would help Debora. Is the istituto a Bank. What did it deduct. VAT on purchases is normally deducted from VAT on sales and the Italian word generally used is "dedurre", but that doesn't seem to be what is happening here. More italian plse

Decurtare significa sottrarre, dedurre e normalmente l'IVA si aggiunge, pertanto risulta illogico, a meno che non dia maggior contesto.
