I'm not sure you're right Michael. Terms like assistenti o aiuti primari are quite dated, now Italian physicians are named "dirigenti medici". In our national employment contract you may find this definition " Al fine di semplificare la stesura del presente contratto, con il termine “Dirigente” si intende far riferimento, ove non diversamente
indicato, a tutti i Dirigenti del ruolo sanitario medici, odontoiatri e veterinari . Nella citazione “dirigenti medici” sono compresi gli odontoiatri."

The more I think 'bout it, the more I'm convinved the bloke ain't a doctor addall, or at least his work described by the terms is administrative rather than medical. If it was simply "medico di ruolo", okay "tenured physician". But Dirigente medico... strikes me as tenured non–medical stuff. Medici use their own standard and specific terminology, and are: Assistenti, Auti Primari, Co-Primari, Primari. All those categories except Assistenti are "dirigenti" in the Italian state-bureaucracy ranking system where EVERYBODY is divided in two cats: impiegati and dirigenti. So, as a university professor I'm a dirigente too. But it would never occur to me to put in my CV "Dirigente Accademico". One puts: ricercatore, assistente, professore associato (by the way, equivalent of Aiuto Primario) and ordinario (+/-primario). All of them may be di ruolo o a contratto, o "non-stabilizzati", o a tempo determinato. That's besides the point. The point is that IMO tenured or not "diregente medico" is not a medical but administrative position. Chers yall!
