Italian term

capisaldi

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
This term is used in the general terms and conditions for the installation of temporary exhibition facilities.

The context is "descrizione dello stato del Sito consegnato precisando, a titolo indicativo e non esaustivo, l’esistenza di recinzioni, strade, piste, *capisaldi*, manufatti vari, etc."

This term is already in the Kudoz glossary and answers, but I couldn't see anything that seemed to fit in this context, apart from maybe "benchmarks" or "sighting points". But it's not my specialist field so I don't really know.

Thanks

Thanks Maria Luisa
agree James (Jim) Davis : or a datum point, but benchmark is probably better here.

Actually I like datum point as it covers instances estabished locally as well as by the authorities.
agree Tom in London : they might not be actual benchmarks...perhaps "fixed reference points" might be a possibility ?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Ok, benchmarks it is then. Like I said it's not my field so I wasn't sure."
