I'm struggling through a list of "tipologie immobili" in an Estate Agent's website.

This category is: terratetto / terracielo

I pretty much understand terratetto, even if we don't have an obvious single term for it in English but terracielo has defeated me, even after extensive searching.

Although I can't really award points for any of the actual answers, I am most grateful for the ideas and information. After reference to the end client and extended discussion, the PM opted for "Full height self-contained property" so I shall enter that in the glossary.

"Estate Agent-speak" that means the same thing "esiste anche un sinonimo di terratetto che è TERRACIELO, con lo stesso significato. In realtà non sono termini molto utilizzati, ma su alcuni siti immobiliari viene distinta questa tipologia"

Thanks Marie; we use townhouse for this in BE too. My uncertainty in using it is whether it is really "not totally free on all four sides" or "not necessarily totally free on all four sides"

But I wanted to distinguish the 2 terms Terratetto- house with a pitched roof
Terracielo- house with a flat roof (usable as a terrace)

I would say they are the same thing - I would agree with Tom - meaning a property from the basement to the roof or attic. I do tend to think, however, that they refer to what in the USA we would call a townhouse, not totally free on all four sides.

In genere si dice terra-cielo...o terratetto, comunque indica l'intero stabile, l'intero palazzo, palazzetto o palazzina che sia: con questo termine si intendono tutti i piani, tutte le unità abitative...TUTTO.
