Discussion

tradu-grace Dec 1, 2011:
@Jim If your option will fit the prospective additional context, wouldn't it be better to translate "overdraft credit" or "loan on overdraft" ? The other way round, a person might demand, for whatsoever reason, a "fido per cassa" (cash credit) even though his/her current account doesn't need immediate or future liquidity.
tradu-grace Dec 1, 2011:
@Kenneth Jim's right we'd need more context.
James (Jim) Davis Nov 30, 2011:
Hi Phil Context is always crucial, but here I think the context banking is sufficient. Almost undoubtedly an overdraft or just possibly some other type of credit line.
philgoddard Nov 30, 2011:
You forgot to post the context.

overdraft / credit line

A "fido" is a credit facility, a credit authorisation, rather than the actual loan. A "Fido cassa" generally refers to an authorised overdraft on a current account. However, a bit of context would help.

Cash credit is a short-term cash loan to a company. A bank provides this type of funding, but only after the required security is given to secure the loan. Once a security for repayment has been given, the business that receives the loan can continuously draw from the bank up to a certain specified amount. This type of financing is similar to a line of credit.
