Land registry
I have both these down as falling under "land registry" in the UK, but in the document I'm translating they come into the same sentence. As I understand it "catasto fabbricati" is referring to land registry for tax purposes and "agenzia del territorio" is more general, but I'm getting tied up in knots with it. Does anybody have any ideas as to how to distinguish? By the way I have already considered "buildings registry", but in the UK "registered buildings" usually refer to listed/protected buildings, which is certainly not relevant here. Context below:
"locale censito al Catasto Fabbricati di Milano, come segue: foglio .., mappale .., subalterno .., Via..., zona censuaria .., categoria ... R.C. Euro XX,XX, in forza di scheda di dichiarazione presentata all'Agenzia del Territorio di Milano in data X n. 000 di Prot e successiva variazione nel classamento in data Y protocollo n. 001."
Thanks!

Land Register vs. Land Registry
In a UK context (I was a Property Manager - nothing to do with "Law / Patents"!).
Incidentally, these comparative terms should be posted as 2 questions under the rules (but I'm no longer a Moderator so it's not my call!)

Comment: "Thanks very much Russell and everyone else who answered. I don't agree that this should have been two questions though, as I already knew the terms referred to the Land Registry and was simply asking the difference and it wouldn't have made sense."

land vs real estate Registry for Catasto Fabbricati or Catasto (Rurale)
Actually I am quite sure of this: refer to a Real Estate Registry and a Land Registry (even when they are in fact the same Office) and use sheet, parcel and sub.s for foglio, particella and sub.
The Agenzia del Territorio could be simply a Local Government Authority Supervisor, not sure about this.

land registry vs. land office
you're right...it is quite tricky as the term land registry in the UK can refer to both the registry itself and the department responsible for it. If you need to distinguish /catasto/ (land registry) from /agenzia del territorio/, I think an option could be "Land Office" (I'm fairly sure in the US they use this for the latter).
