These are instructions for pouring a tunnel recess/niche. Would "manto" be a lagging in this case?
Or something much more generic? Here are some instances of how it's used in the text:
* La nicchia è composta da due casseri laterali con spessore di manto da 6 mm.
* Applicare la guarnizione sul manto dei casseri e fissarla con le staffe cod. 804034 - 592503, come indicato nelle figure sottostanti.
* Oleare con olio disarmante la superficie del manto contro getto.

My first thought, thinking of tunnels would be the tunnel lining or a sheet of sprayed concrete, but this is part of the formwork or shuttering and not the tunnel. If it is traditional wooden formwork then this "manto" (cloak) is clearly the sides of the concrete moulds, fairly thick 6 mm. plywood. However today formwork may be made of plastic or even metal, so "boarding" or "facing" may servet the purpose. See wiki
