Italiano term
tabulato meccanografico
Da Italiano a Inglese
Tecnico/Meccanico
Affari/Commercio (generale)
"A seguito di tale domanda, il signore XX ha proceduto alla stampa, su tabulato meccanografico, delle scritture di rettifica e dei bilanci di verifica"
This text is actually from a deposition, but I marked it technical because the term in question is not a legal term. At a certain point, the man was given some electronic files and asked a series of questions about them. Am I missing something or is this phrase strange and unusual? Even on Italian google, I'm only coming up with about 400 entries for this term. Is something misspelled?
Thank you!

Usually on a continuous sheet, so you could put "continuous printout".

Historically, a "centro meccanografico" was a data processing center in the era of mainframes. So stampare un tabulato meccanografico means to print out a table using a printer and computer. As the price of computer came down, accountants offices were very often also centri meccanografici. The image I have in my mind is of those big wide printers which print out reels and reels of data on a continuous sheet. The real mystery is why they called them "meccannico", when of course they are electronic. Back in the 50s some computers where powered by magnetised ball bearings, but that is electromagnetic.
I have suggested the term printout, because a printout is normally associated with "computer printout". Maybe "computer printout" is a better translation, but we take computers for granted today.
