This is part of a long description of a lingerie item (I'm not even exactly sure what). I don't have a picture of it. The dictionary says "vogatore" means "rower," so it's not like anything we'd say in English. Any suggestions much appreciated.

type of garment? As Sylvia said, knowing what kind of a garment we're dealing with here would make all the difference. However the fact that it's lingerie makes me think it's not a neckline as such but the back of something like a bra or vest, hence racerback. I had to translate the same term not so long ago (but with pictures) and that's what it was.

context Looking at the number of possibilities, seems like you'd need to know at least what kind of a garment you're describing before you can translate the term. Is it a bra? A top? Maybe a little extra context would help.

Typically seen in sports bra ... and as Carly said, it refers to the back of the bra, not the front.

It's called a "canottiera", as "rowing" in Italian is "canottaggio".
