Italian term

piattabanda

Italian to English Other Engineering (general) beam welding line
"PIATTABANDA: bandella metallica lunga e stretta." That's the explanation given at the beginning of the manual. Any idea of what the English is for it??
Proposed translations (English)
3 long narrow metal strip

Please could you close the question in that case.
Trapacciuolo (asker) Dec 13, 2015:
When I posted this question I also posted another one for "anima". Tom in London sent an image as an explanation which is exactly the same as the picture I have in the manual (without captions), so anima = web and piattabanda = flange. Thanks to everybody anyway.
philgoddard Dec 13, 2015:
Glossaries and definitions like this can be tricky. My approach to this would depend on how the word appears elsewhere in the manual, and what exactly this item is for, which is not clear from your context. Is it a piece of metal that's being welded?
Can you give us examples of the word being used in the rest of the text?

Proposed translations

long narrow metal strip

Nothing I can think of. As last resort I would use that.

Thanks

neutral philgoddard : You can't say "LONG NARROW METAL STRIP: Long narrow metal strip".
