carta spugna

Italian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
An item in a list of materials for a crafts project.
I have no description of what it is but it looks like this:

@ Cedric - It is the brown thing itself.
@ philgoddard - tulips are cut from this paper and applied to a greeting card as part of its decoration.

yup. I am sure. There are step-by-step photographs and the material is exactly like the one in the image, except it's red. It also appears to be rather stiff.

Are you sure your picture is the product referred to in your text?
I found two meanings for it. There's a brand of paper towels called Cartaspugna, but this looks like sandpaper:

I have thought of this but was not sure. I have gomma crepla in the same text. Do you know if there is a difference between gomma crepla and carta spugna? ... Oh man. Just saw a site that says these two are synonymous. The texture was really throwing me off. Thank you!

sponge-effect paper

as it is a craft project and they probably want a sponge-like finish I would go for this-it seems to be the aesthetic finish which is important not the function of the paper.

crinkle paper

This is a bit of a mystery and I am not sure what they are getting at but presumably you want to use a term that relates to what art & craft stores actually sell. I think the photo is misleading because the angle of illumination is so extreme. Even so, a google image search for "crinkle paper" seems relatively close. A safe alternative to crinkle paper could be "textured craft paper." good luck!!

oops, on second thought, I think this is a sheet of foam with a texture, not really paper at all.
