Italian term

confezionamento di ileostomia

Italian to English Medical Medical (general)
a description of a surgical operation

Discussion

Katarina Kvarnhult Apr 5, 2013:
Qui la definizione di confezionamento nel contesto:
http://www.aioss.it/AIOSS.it/Ileostomia.html
JudyC Apr 4, 2013:
"Confezionare" is not "packing". Packing is translated as "zaffare" or left in English (il packing chirirgico). "Confezionare" means to create, construct or fashion : Ma l’operazione è fallita per una grave infezione postoperatoria che ha indotto il chirurgo locale a confezionare una ileostomia (ano artificiale sulla parete dell’addome).

ileostomy construction

Confezionare is synonymous for realizzare

http://synonyms.woxikon.com/italian-synonyms/confezionare.ph...

I have found the use of "ileostomy construction" and "ileostomy creation", please see ref.
Example sentence:

Due to the patients conditions the surgeon had to perform an ileostomy construction.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Lirka : I would not use ´construction´, just ileostomy, or possibly ´creation of ileostomy´

disagree lcstranslations : it has nothing to do with constructing but wrapping the open cavity where the pouch is attached to collect what passes through the intestine.

agree Fiona Grace Peterson : This reflects the meaning of the original. I would go for "creation"

agree JudyC : I prefer "creation" too but "construction" is not wrong

Grazie a tutte per i vostri commenti! Construction vs creation: sembrerebbe che vadano bene tutte e due le versioni: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/ileostomy

exactly, when I had surgey the doctor said he would pack my wound, which is in the dictionary you cite: a folded square or compress of gauze or other absorbent material used especially to maintain a clear field in surgery, to plug cavities, to check bleed.

Here we are talking about a surgery, therefore, to plug cavities, pack
Peer comment(s):

disagree JudyC : the meaning is different. See the medical meaning of "pack" --> http://www.merriam-webster.com/medical/pack
