Italian term

Patr. da

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
From a "verbale audizione testimoniale", at the top of the document where the parties in the case are listed it says:
"Società A
patr. da: Studio Legale A"
contro
Società B
patr. da: Studio Legale B"
I think this must mean "represented by" or something like that, but would like confirmation and to know what it is short for.

It stands for "patrocinato da," perhaps a less common variant than the usual formulation of "assistito da."
