I can't figure out what this phrase means, never mind properly translate it.
Here's the context:
An employee is describing their boss at work.
"In un momento contigente di grandi difficoltà, la signora XXX ha sempre difeso le risorse e l'attività della Clinical Operations, valorizzandone i talenti..."
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am almost sure that "contigente" is a spelling mistake and should be "contingente" meaning "dependent upon" or "arising from"
