First of all, anonimous should know that "ti amo" isn't a slang expression, but pure Italian written and spoken. In addition it should be noted that while the English translation "I love you" in the anglosaxon world is frequently used as a friendly expression, i.e. to say "I like you", in Italian is only used to actually mean "love".
