I\'d like to add to my answer some more hints: I think the term \"limitanti contrapposte\" should be better understood as the \"margini dei corpi contrapposti delle vertebre adiacenti che delimitano il disco vertebrale\", that is \"the margins of opposed surfaces of adjacent vertebral bodies\". So, I would propose this translation to you: \"degenerative-arthrotic type alterations affect the margins of opposed surfaces of adjacent vertebral bodies\".
I\'m sure you\'ll find the following links really interesting:
Facet Joint and Vertebral Body Arthritis
\"Both in the margins of the vertebral bodies and in the facet joints calcium becomes deposited.\"

...\"the opposed surfaces of adjacent vertebral bodies are bound together by intervertebral discs of fibrocartilage.\"

Sixty-four subjects derived from a longitudinal study of long distance runners and community controls had a complete peripheral radiographic evaluation for osteoarthritic changes in hands, knees, and lumbar spine.

The presence of degenerative changes within
the cervical and lumbar spine has been shown to be
related to age,
FIGURE 10–17. Type I vertebral endplates. A sagittal T1-weighted spin echo MR image (A) of the lumbar spine shows regions of low signal within
the adjacent endplates at the L4–L5 level.
