ordine a saldo

Da Italiano a Inglese Affari/Finanza Affari/Commercio (generale)
Disegni inviati al fornitore (se ordine a saldo).

No other context, just a list of forms regarding incoming materials (other list items are: materiale accettato, Copia bolla d’accompagnamento)

I thought it meant 'on payment of balance in full' (which makes no sence in my context) so did some research and came up with this glossary entry:

A saldo: l'ordine non sarà consegnato fino a che tutti gli. articoli dell'ordine non saranno disponibili a magazzino.

Can anyone confirm if this definition is correct?

Thanks for all your help on this one - have to close without grading but I appreciated you suggestions.
Manuela Dal Castello Feb 17, 2010:
I understand - and have always used - "ordine a saldo" in the meaning that an order has been completely closed (all items have been shipped or, if a lower quantity was shipped, customer accepts to close the order with what has been shipped). But I cannot see how this combines with "disegni inviati al fornitore". HTH anyway.

Could mean anything I think you have to ask the client. This only Googles ten hits and half of them are to kudoz pages.

Completely available Hi Ivana, actually "ordine a saldo" means an order which is shipped when all parts are available, we could say when it's completely supplied in only one shipment.
Ivana UK (asker) Feb 17, 2010:
The glossary entry I found is correct, it means that the materials/goods were not available at the time of order dispatch. So how do we say that in EN?

suggestion "if items on back order"

back order: an order to be filled upon replenishment and receipt of stock
Peer comment(s):

neutral sara_missy : but "back order" has generally a negative meaning, it is normally used to define orders which are late and are not keeping the requested delivery time
3 ore
agree Rachel Fell : that's what I was thinking for my case - thanks for confirming - http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/back order
