infarcimento in parte emorragico

Da Italiano a Inglese Medico/Sanitario Medicina (generale) CT scan - trauma
This is part of a chest and abdominal CT scan report on a patient who suffered multiple injuries in an accident.

Falda pleurica bilaterale.
Diffusamente addensati i parenchimi polmonari ...
*Infarcimento in parte emorragico* dei tessuti adiposi mediastinici anteriori e superiori.

For "infarcimento" my dictionaries give "accumulation/filling/effusion". I would just translate this as "accumulation of blood in the anterior and superior mediastinal adipose tissues" except I'm not sure how to understand and what to do with the "in parte".

Thanks for helping me clarify this.

Thank you everybody ... for your suggestions. I didn't feel that the answers proposed applied in this case, but I appreciate your trying to help me!

Thank you Sue I just delivered this ... used the somewhat awkward "partial hemorrhagic accumulation". I think it could have been said better, but it still comes close enough to be understood.
SJLD Sep 9, 2012:
Hi Joe. I tend to agree. What worries me is the lack of evidence of the collocation "infarction of mediastinal adipose tissue". I've been looking but can't find anything, either in Italian or English. I would tend to go with something like "congestion of" or "hemorrhage into" the adipose/fat tissue. What you need here is the opinion of a native Italian MD. Try Gilberto?

Infarction Thank you everybody for your comments and suggestions. I could be wrong, but I don't think this is an infarction in the sense of tissue dying because of lack of oxygen supply (as in myocardial infarction); I think this is the other meaning of the word -- accumulation or effusion -- where blood pools or collects in an area of the body, or in tissues. Remember this is a case where the patient was in a severe accident with multiple internal injuries ... which implies bleeding in the tissues. I hope one of our doctor colleagues will offer an opinion on this!

partial hemorrhagic infarction

infarcimento ematico o emorragico = hemorrhagic infarction

I think the "in parte" refers to the "infarcimento", it's a partial infarction.
