I've just booked my flights - so I'm coming! Can anyone recommend a B&B in or around Cambridge (reply via my proz profile)? I don't know that part of the world at all - south of Hadrian's Wall, I guess....
Got room for a latecomer? | Jul 20, 2003 |
Hi there!
I'd like to come to the Cambridge powwow, if it's not too late to join in! Just got from Barcelona last Thursday and it seems I'm still gonna be in Chester for a while, so that would be a great opportunity to meet some colleagues and to travel to that side of the country Just got the details from Russell's Word doc and I agree with everything, so i... Thank you Russell | Jul 22, 2003 |
for all your hard work. I am coming so far and it all sounds good to me. I am interested in the verifications and native speaker interview. Can I just bring a photo.
Is anyone else travelling from the Southwest, I am coming from Bournemouth.
See you! | | |
I'm also travelling from Bournemouth | Jul 22, 2003 |
I'm also travelling from Bournemouth (by car) but I'm travelling up to Cambridge the night before. I'm heading back down to Bournemouth after the Powwow though - Annette you're welcome to a lift back if you'd like.
I'll also be bringing my laptop, so I can show you all the basics of Trados.
Looking forward to meeting you all!

Annette. I think Diana was right when she said:
"as far as I know, you need an ID with a photo for that purpose. I am organising a powwow in Lithuania later in the year, and looked these things up".
Old student card, new style driving licence, passport?
As far as the native speaker interview is concerned, I've just asked ProZ if they intend to appoint a "Profile Pro" for this purpose. Presumably you want to add English as a native language and you're not alone in this.

travelling from Bournemouth | Jul 22, 2003 |
Hi everybody!
Just picking up on the last notes where I noticed that at least two people are ravelling from Bournemouth. Well I would be coming from Poole and it would be great if I could join either Alison or Anette if they are travelling by car. I have never been in Cambridge before and I'd prefer to arrive with colleagues rather than alone. I look forward to meeting all of you!
Arianna | | |
Thank you for the offer Alison, and I am looking forward to meet everyone, and especially you and Arianna seeing as we are living in the same area! I will come by own car but thanks anyway.
You are welcome to join me Arianna if you want, I have e-mailed you direct.

I went to the London powwow last year and it seemed to me then that it would have been helpful if everyone had displayed their name somehow - just a stick-on paper label would do. It would save the embarrassment of being introduced to someone and forgetting their name within minutes, as sometimes happens to me.
Might also be helpful to add language pair(s) and other language capabilities, e.g.:
JACK DOUGHTY
Russian-English
fair German, poor
French & Spanish... Jolly good idea, Jack. As a sufferer from short-term memory loss I'm all in favour of this. Special subjects would also be useful.
Senior moments - name tags | Jul 23, 2003 |
As an early fellow sufferer of these popularly called "senior moments" I totally agree. It also saves time at this quite short meeting. Shall we all bring our own all ready made to save more time?
