Italian term or phrase: firma di traenza
We have received a bank cheque from a bank in Italy as a repayment of money. This appears to be a bank cheque described as an assengo circolare. In the position where it says "firma di traenza" there is no signature. The Bank in Italy has said the Italian Bank does not sign but the person in receipt of the cheque must sign. The Bank in Australia with whom we are banking the cheque says the italian Bank must sign. We cannot get the Cheque cashed and we do not know who is at fault. Can someone please advise what this means and does the Italian Bank have to sign or the individual to whom the bank cheque was sent?

assegno circolare

Explanation:
We are talking about "assegno circolare" (bank acc.).
Exp:I(luca)have to pay to(mary)1000 euro.
Traditional bank cheques does not garantee to (mary) to get money when
she will be in front bank counter IF (Luca) in reality is run out of money in his account(Luca is illegal releasing this cheque).
So,to prevent this mary will ask Luca to go at luca's bank agency and
request an "assegno circolare" as document from bank that luca has got money on his bank account. For this reason luca will give to mary
an "assegno circolare" of 1000 euro printed out from the Luca's bank. IT will SHOULD BE PRINTED on the name of person who will get the money. So after this to put the money on mary's bank account, mary will
put on her signature (holding a personal document)in the field of "firma di traenza" in front of her bank counter.

Explanation:
The Bank in Italy has said the Italian Bank does not sign but the person in receipt of the cheque must sign: this is right. Who is the drawer if the cheqe? you, therefore you must sign the cheque.

Or this is the procedure here in Italy
