In the context of residential property letting, an 'Assured shorthold tenancy' means 'A tenancy with a minimum term of six months'
However, I am not 100% sure if this sort of tenancy exists in Italy.
Either way, how might I best render it?
Any ideas greatly appreciated!

As far as I know it doesn't exist in Italy. You could say "contratto transitorio" but is different (it's 1 to 18 months). I would suggest to say "contratto semestrale".
