German term or phrase: nicht doch
Could somebody so kind to explain me and translate the meaning/use of "nicht doch" in the following sentence?

Context (previous sentence):
Bei zehn Patienten der XXXXX-Gruppe (Nrn. 2, 4, 35, 38, 43, 47, 59, 63, 64 und 69) und bei fünf Patienten der Placebo-Gruppe (Nrn. 24, 29, 51, 62 und 68) wurden somit weder bei der CCT noch bei der MRT Befunde, die den vermuteten Infarkt bestätigten, dokumentiert.
Problematic sentence:
"Dies schliesst allerdings nicht aus, dass ein solcher Infarkt nicht doch tatsächlich vorlag."

Thanks in advance!

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, Olav. I doubted about the "negative sense or not" of the second part of the sentence.

  -> Thanks, Stefanie.

agree  RegineMac: Yes. I'd add "the possibility" (as in "this doesn't exclude the possibility that such an infarction actually did occur). I think it clarifies the meaning.

'not nonetheless'

Explanation:
a bit of a double negative, could be translated as 'did not actually occur'
