I get the convenuta which is respondent but I cannot find anything in the way of summoning , calling respondent

Explanation:
when a party is cited in a trial is called "convenuto" (or "convenuta" if it is a company for example). When a defendant (convenuto) needs to summon a third party in the same trial, is sometimes called "chiamante". I do think that "summoning defendant" can be a correct transaltion.
From another point of view, the original defendant is himself a plaintiff with respect to the third party summoned so it can be translated also as "Third Party Plaintiff"
