Going by the definition in http://de.thefreedictionary.com/Aktionismus, Aktionismus is defined as "der Versuch, besonders das Bewusstsein und die Einstellung der Menschen durch gezielte (oft provozierende) Aktionen zu verändern" or "meist pej; der übertriebene Drang, etwas zu tun <blinder, purer Aktionismus>". Radical ideas seems to convey the first meaning. Urge to react to things may not be the best way of conveying the second. What do you guys think?

The statement is not supposed to insult, so euphemism and irony would serve the purpose just fine.

Goldcoaster and B. Sulzer's answers are good if a euphemism is what you're looking for -- but are you? To me, "Aktionismus" is more of a disparaging term -- politicians are always using it to insult each other, for example. But am I missing a nuance?

De-EN stimmt, sorry. Es geht um eine Veranstaltung, die von der Sprecherseite organisiert wurde und bei der das Gegenüber willkommen geheißen wird, wobei das Gegenüber scheinbar bei den Vorbereitungen "gewirbelt" hat, jedoch aber auch einen hohen Status hat.

Explanation:
"Knee-jerk reactions" is close, but to me it seems a little too reactive, and a little too discontinuous. "Aktionismus" is more of an ongoing state of affairs, no? I don't know what this person did that upset the speaker, but it sounds like it was "impulsive," i.e. done without thinking. And "impulsive" definitely carries a sense of disapproval.

CAUTION: I just googled "impulsive behavior," and the top ten hits all seem to be about children's behavioral problems -- yikes! As a native speaker I can only say that this is not a reflection of the common usage of the word "impulsive" -- though apparently that usage is changing. But my sense is that impulsiveness is normal human behavior, though not necessarily always positive behavior.
