specchiatura
This is explained as part of a shoe. The phrase is "Colorazioni, finissaggi, specchiature eccentriche ma con stile." The shoes are supposed to be innovative a eye-catching. Are these some sort of reflective section?

Hi Amy. I agree with Lesley, but in the case that you can't get more details...they're being abit artsy and vague, mightn't you do the same? Specchiature sounds like possible reflections, but that's no good, aren't they essentially just details or (to be abit bolder) patterns? Just a guess, Claire

Comment: "Thanks everyone. The end customer still hasn't explained what they mean by this word; both Christina's or Pnina's suggestions could easily be right, so I aimed for vague and explained my confusion to the agency. Thanks again."

la parte di dietro di una scarpa
Penso che si tratta della parte frontale della scarpa, visto che quella parte deve essere eye-catching.Mi sembra di essere abbastanza logica.

Yes,it is reflective,I suppose, but for a more detailed opinion I should be given a lot wider context.

Unfortunately there is no additional context. This is an isolated sentence and I have no photos. :( |

mirror effect
Hi, just another guess here! I'd render it with "mirror effect" as it conveys the idea without being too specific. In the link below there is a photo of YSL sandals with a mirror effect heel; it could be something like that. It could also be a mirror effect recreated on the leather itself with a metallic effect: as the others have pointed out, it's hard to say, but something like "mirror effect" could be a general catch-all.

One of the meanings of "specchiatura" is "lucentezza caratteristica delle sezioni radiali di alcune piante da legno."

Have found an italian website about the making of shoes and have got the impression that "specchiatura" is the act of polishing. I am quoting what it says: "sfruttando funzioni di specchiatura, di offset".

There are 2 similar sites about the work in the shoe industry. Have found a better quotation: "Sulla camicia vengono definiti i margini di piegatura ed i riferimenti di montaggio (linee e puntate), sfruttando funzioni di specchiatura, di offset..."
