Office 2010 viewing Arabic numerals?

I was wondering if anyone can help?

I am currently using office 2010 on my PC and I seem to be unable to change my settings to view Arabic numerals. I do not seem to have other language settings installed, it seems to be prompting me to buy a language pack, but I am sure that it may just be a case of changing something in my settings rather than purchasing anything.

Has anyone had similar problems and was able to resolve them?

Hi Abi,

Under the Control Panel, go to Regional Settings, and add the Arabic language support.

Also, under the File menu within Word 2010, go to Options->Advanced, scroll down a little, and you shall find a DropDown box for numerals.

on my system, I know exactrly what you mean as this is what I would do on my old version, choosing either "Context" "Hindi" or "Arabic" but on this version I physically don't have a numerals section under Options.

Hi Abi,

After you open the Options dialog under the FILE menu item, you HAVE TO click on Advanced in the Left pane, and then scroll down to numerals.

Yes this is what I have done Apr 25, 2012

However there is still not a numerals option there. I think it is something to do with the language pack that wasn't installed when Office was installed on my computer, I have been told however that we do not have a CD and the computer came with it already installed....

As a matter of curiosity, I did a test on my machine, and removed the Arabic Locale support from the Region and Country options (I use Windows 7 - 64bits). Then I wasn't able to type Arabic or show "Hindi digits" (Arabic)...

Then, I found that under the Microsoft Office group folder under the START icon on the left corner, there is another folder called: "Microsoft Office 2010 Tools", under which there is an App called: "Microsoft Office 2010 Language Preferences", in which Arabic l... See more

the language pack Apr 26, 2012

only contains proofing tools for Arabic such as spell checker and grammar checker as far as i am aware plus the ability to change word to use Arabic as its language

I am not using the 2010 version but the 2007 version

if you go into the menu and select office then office tools you should see one that says language tools, you need to enable Arabic in this, you may need to make sure you have added an Arabic keyboard in control panel as well.

I had exactly the same problem. As you said, i went to Microsoft Office 2010 Language preferences, and added the persian language. i downloaded the package from office site. at the last step, i set persian as default.

the problem solved. then i selected context for numeral. and persian numbers appeared.
