Setting language in Word 2007

When I try to proofread a doc in Word 2007 and set the language everything is fine. But as soon as I click on ''Spelling & Grammar'' the set language changes automatically to another one.

How can I prevent this from happening? Needless to say it is quite frustrating!

Are you selecting all text before setting language? (Ctrl-A)

Install package Aug 5, 2011

You need to install the proofing package for that language. After much searching I found it here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/language. You may need to change 'us' to 'uk' in the URL. I hope that helps.

It is a very simple and obvious solution and I don't know why I didn't think of this before!

Have you tried unchecking the "detect language automatically" box? Aug 6, 2011

This might be another reason for the problem - this is one of the options that appears in the "set language" window.
