My clients (legacy, non-agency) don't usually care about the methods I use, as long as I deliver the goods.
PS: I've been using TM and MT tools for ages, but I don't think they qualify as AI... or maybe they do now?

I never had a client that offered me a clause like this. I say it depends a lot on the rate they would pay me. As Italians would say: "Pochi soldi, pocha musica."

All of the agencies I've signed a contract with have a clause like this. No problem - you sign it if you agree and you do the work. As far as I can tell, all larger agencies have this - I can't remember signing a contract with the smaller, "boutique" agencies.
My direct clients don't bother.

One of my marketing points - if anyone asks - is that I use real, human intelligence!
It may be collected in a Translation Memory and not all mine, but it IS all human.

These same agencies you are talking about use AI.

Some agencies I work with certainly use AI. They are usually open about this. They may still require me not to use AI, which is absolutely fine by me.
I don't mind whether or not they use AI (as long as they are open about it) and I appreciate the fact that they are aware that AI translations will need a human translator before it can be delivered.

For the record, no client has ever asked me to do this, but if one did, my answer would be that I am contracting to deliver a high-quality translation, and how I accomplish that is my business, not theirs.

These organizations frequently commission 'revision' tasks for texts purportedly translated by human professionals. However, comparative analyses consistently reveal that these source texts were generated via machine translation or artificial intelligence. Contemporary translation agencies operate heavily on profit-maximization models, minimizing operational costs at the expense of translation integrity. I’ve never been asked. My surviving customers are all financial sector so they would assume the highest levels of integrity and security anyway.

Why deliver your translations in hard copy by hand? Because they have to pay cash on delivery - no ifs, no buts, no maybes? That was my Standard Operating Procedure when I started ... (And a number of people would wish it still is - as it would make life rather difficult for scammers?)
