vintale

Da Italiano a Inglese Altro Prodotti tessili/Abbigliamento/Moda fashion
I suspect this is a typo and should be "vintage", as I've never seen this word before and nor has my dictionary, but I'd like confirmation from a native Italian speaker.

"Ma l'uomo Trend è un giovane deciso, scattante, ironico ed ama anche giocare con il vintale e con il patchwork."

The problem is that vintage, in the usual sense of period or smart secondhand clothing doesn't come into it, as the test is a description of a the latest collection of a a designer menswear collection. Maybe it's referring to vintage inspiration, retro look, or something along those lines? It also seems strange to have it so closely related to patchwork -it almost seems as though it should be something similar. I'm sure I don't know!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

answer for Gian non mi piace, non l'ho scritto io, ma un termine tipicissimo dei testi moda! Penso che il senso sarebbe "divertirsi /sperimentare con".

Hi Sarah!
I do a lot of fashion translations and while I can't tell you who the stuff was for, I CAN tell you that "vintage" is in for S/S 2003 and F/W 2003-4, also for menswear.
The patchwork bit does give an ethnic, Seventies kind of touch.

Here's an example from this year's F/W menswear collection.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Well, even though you're not a native Italian either, you've confirmed my suspicion, so you get full points! I just wanted to be sure it wasn't some obscure word that, in my ignorance, I was unaware of, but as noone has offered any translation for it, it just has to be a typo. I too do a lot of fashion translations, which is why I immediately thought of "vintage", and vintage/retro style makes perfect sense in this context. Thanks a lot. Sarah"
