Preliminary Investigations Magistrate
I would leave this in the Italian (with an explanation in English).

There is no direct equivalent - that is why I suggested leaving the Italian expression. As I understand it, is the magistrate who, in English law, carries out the preliminary examination to decide on whether to refer the case to another (higher) court.

James (Jim) Davis
: "Preliminary investigating magistrate" is the usual translation. No, the system is different in England Momo and different again in Scotland where "Proctor" might be similar, but I'm not a Scot.

Comment: "I will do as usual in these cases. First time I meet "GIP" in my text, I will write the Italian meaning followed by the English meaning. Further times I will only write GIP. Do you all agree? Happy Sunday"
