Italian term

comneno/a

Italian to English Art/Literary History art history in Sicily
"I mosaici bizantini di Palermo, Cefalù e Monreale sono tra i più importanti e meglio conservati esempi dell’arte musiva comnena"

I know that Comnena is the Latinised form of the Greek Κομνηνή but is "Comnena" a recognised art-historical term for a particular Byzantine style? And is it the same in English?

Art history experts only please. No speculation, guessing, or googling - thanks in advance.

I've just noticed that you have one, Texjax. I don't suppose it's in Comnenian mosaics?
philgoddard Sep 30, 2010:
Also, I'm not sure if I qualify as an art history expert. Do I need a PhD? :-)
texjax DDS PhD Sep 30, 2010:
@ Phil Me too! ;)
philgoddard Sep 30, 2010:
I found the answer by Googling - does that mean you're not interested?

It all helps to relieve the monotony!
agree Michael Korovkin : A-huh! Tom has finally shown his mettle: when it comes to HIS questions, he doesn't want Googlenauts scoring their "hits" but experts knowing their onions. Meno male!+ To each – his own.
