: Are you suggesting that 3D should be omitted? If so, I disagree.

Comment: "Thanks to everyone for their input. I went for "corner bracket" in the end just to be on the safe side."

crimped cleat
Having worked in aluminium joineries every school and university holiday from between the ages of 14 and 21, then for the best part of a year aged 23 before coming to France, assuming that Press refers to crimping (confidence medium due to this uncertainty), I can say that this is a crimped (corner) cleat, as shown here: https://www.hammer.biz/en/squadrette-a-spinare-cianfrinare/9...
Despite the examples below, and in context at least, no need to specify 'corner' IMHO, or even '3D'; people in the trade will know what it is.
The ones we used were simpler, like the ones in the attached image. They were inserted into open 'ali' (pron. 'allee', shop slang for 'aluminium'; only ever said the word, never written it till now, so I'm not sure of the spelling!) sections and the enclosing 'wings' were deformed (crimped) into the cleats with a punch whacked with a hammer.
Mitre-cut mounting with crimped or pinned corner cleats. All fixings are either in aluminium or stainless steel

All aluminium profiles are mitred and crimped using corner cleats eliminating movement
