Reference book for Russian Federation legal system

Taking advantage of a nasty cold to read an excellent overview of the French legal system, I have realized how much that background can help in translation.

I am now looking for a similar book on the legal system in the Russian Federation. I did a search on Amazon and found this book:

"Private and Civil Law in the Russian Federation (Law in Eastern Europe)" by WIlliam Simons.

Since it is not inexpensive, I am wondering if anybody has read, reviewed, or ski... See more

Since it is not inexpensive, I am wondering if anybody has read, reviewed, or skimmed it and can give a recommendation, one way or another. Alternatively, I would like to hear of an alternative book that gives a thorough overview of the new legal system. I would prefer it in English as it is easier to read and helps provide by its nature translation equivilents.
