I have broad experience of management jobs which heavily involved use of language and communication skills. My management background includes air transport, travel industry, airport marketing, real estate and investment management, international trade in textiles, toys, airport equipment and minerals. On the other hand I have a degree in translation and foreign lanuages from an esteemed linguistics school. This combination has been giving me opportunities throughout my career for freelance translations in different fields, which I have often gladly accepted. I did translations on a varied range of topics from aircraft deicing to commercial real estate and investment, construction, medicine and medical reserach, law and courts etc.
Since 2010 I have been doing freelance translations and interpreting full-time.
My principles in translation are these:
- end user of the target text must find it easy to read, the syntax must be as simple as it is practicable;
- terms must be either universally understandable or very appropriately used, my aim is not to "sound smart", but to convey the meaning of source in the target text;
- I must understand what I translate, if I am not sure of the meaning of any part of the source I research it, I avoid vague or descriptive translation by all means;
- I deliver my assignments on time.
