hotel? Jan 29, 2005

Just wondering if anyone else is booking a hotel (who hasn't already done so that is) and if so, if they care to divulge which one? I was thinking about this in terms of sharing a cab to the bistro.......?

hotel! Feb 1, 2005

I'm just now starting to think about booking a hotel. And SN Brussels Airlines has a seat sale from/to Berlin. How far have you gotten?

is what I'm looking at for now, also because they have a parking garage on site which is appealing. The price is also decent on bookings.be.

Looks fine. 69 € for a single/double room. Breakfast is a little expensive for 19,00 €. hrs.de has the same price for that night. Is there nobody from Brussels who knows an acceptable hotel near the X-it Brasserie?

agree Feb 1, 2005

breakfast was a bit pricey - there were quite a few hotels in that price range and also a couple near the brasserie - maybe writeaway could put us on the right track???))

Absolutely, Feb 1, 2005

Writeaway or anybody from Brussels as a matter of fact. For 19,00 € you can have a wonderful breakfast anywhere else. Or a normal but fast breakfast at the King of the grill with the Scottish name for less. )

I have to say that the quality of the rooms at the NH is very nice. At least in Cologne...

NH in Amsterdam is also quite nice and that's true about the breakfast option though I know a nicer place on the grote markt (grand place) that's got great huge mugs of coffee......anyways, suggestions are open - centre is a good location for other reasons as well
writeaway???

Hi Allison ;-) Feb 1, 2005

If you are driving and want to stay near the Grand Place/Grote Markt, then make sure the hotel can provide parking. What hotels did you find near the brasserie?

What about Sunday? Feb 4, 2005

I'm planning on flying in on Saturday and flying out on Sunday. I can either fly out in the am or the pm. Seems a shame to just leave without seeing the city. Anybody feel like an outing on Sunday? What do you suggest, writeaway?

Well, there are so many things to d and to visit in Brussels that I'm sure you will find soemething, no doubt on that ! It depends of course what you want to do, but Grand'Place, Mannekepis, and the rest are easy to find !
Also don't forget to try the cooking in Belgium, also on Sunday ... Choose a good restaurant and take your time to taste the food ...

My (local) advice would definitely be for people to stay 'in town' - Boitsfort is very quiet and residential.

X-it, however, is very easy to get to from Beaulieu metro station (Line 1A, direction Hermann-Debroux) – comfortably under ten minutes on foot from there.

Alternatively, the yellow 95 (to ‘Heiligenborre’) and 96 (to ‘Sainte-Anne’) buses leave every ten minutes or so from alongside the Bourse, in the heart of 'downtown', and will deposit you nearby. G

Or you can get a taxi; however, seeing as this is Brussels, you'll probably have to tell the driver the way, yet will still end up paying a king's ransom upon arrival...

Alas, I can't offer to put anyone up as we have family over from GB that same weekend.
