Biografia
My French to English translation, "Clandestine Operations: The Arms and Techniques of the French Resistance, 1941-1944," was published by Macmillan in 1983. That translation is found in 279 libraries worldwide. In 2006, I worked with a team of translators that produced "The Governor's Suits," originally written in Spanish by Puerto Rican psychiatrist Guillermo Gonzáles. The book describes Colonized Personality Disorder. In 2007 I translated the greater part of a book written by sculptor/writer Virginie Sommet, originally from Normandy, about her life and work in New York City's Chinatown. This translation, "Only in New York, Darling!", was published by lulu.com. During 2007, I created the first French to English translated version of Belgian playwright Jean-François Viot's play "Liberty" . Also in 2007, I translated a series of French-language journal articles on the political, economic, historical, and philosophical aspects of the European Union, as well as on adolescent suicidal ideation for a well-known Belgian university. During the first half of 2008, I produced two translations from French, "In the Footsteps of Charlemagne, in the Land of the Black Orchids," and "Canaletto," which was published by Parkstone International. That translation is found in several university libraries in the United States, as well as in more than a few public libraries. During 2011 and 2012, I translated two French-language romance novels for Editions-Amorosa, Laure Marcillac's "Un Amour De Charlotte," and Marie Lerouge's "L'heretière comblée", into English.

I do freelance literary, general legal, social sciences, history, travel and tourism, creative marketing/advertising, and non-technical medical translations for a few translation agencies and for private individuals. I have translated multiple books, other than the ones I have already mentioned, over the past several years, including classics of world literature and psychoanalytic biographies. I'm still looking for a publisher for some of those.

Over a period of four years I have done translations for two newspapers, El Latino Expreso and The Senior Years, into Spanish, both of which are distributed in Lorain County, Ohio.

Between 2007 and 2009, I read French-, Spanish-, and Italian-language history journal articles, based on which I wrote English-language abstracts for a California organization, ABC-Clio. I translated the bi-weekly newspaper of Sept-Îles, Quebec, on a daily basis for about a year (1974-1975). Other experience over the past decade includes the translation of brochures for a local church, the American Red Cross, and hundreds of pages for a drug and alcohol treatment agency, all into Spanish.

I earned a perfect 4.00 in all Spanish to English translation courses that I took at Notre Dame College of Cleveland and Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. In addition, I received a 4.00 for my work in two journalism classes which I took at a community college in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. At Akron University and Case Western Reserve University, I studied Counseling Psychology and Clinical Social Work for a combined GPA of 3.63. My BA degree was earned at Hiram College, Cum Laude, with the majors of Spanish and French and a minor in political science. I finished my studies of the Italian language at Oberlin College during the spring of 2008. In 2016,  I was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Literary Translation by Ashland University, after I successfully defended my translation thesis, "Now, I Write", which is my English-language version of award-winning Spanish author, Lolita Bosch's post-modern memoir, "Ahora, escribo". I am currently working on a degree in Italian, through Youngstown State University, after completing courses in that language at Oberlin College (2007-2008) and through ICON (Italian Culture on the Net), during the last decade.

In addition to translating, I have written book reviews/critiques of fiction and non-fiction books for a Chicago author and a couple of New York City book review services. I have also worked as a translator and/or writer of human interest stories for three Lorain County, Ohio, newspapers. I have also written original creative English-language fiction and nonfiction articles for clients.

My private Spanish and French tutoring practice caters to high school students who are experiencing difficulties in learning those languages, or who need to undertake make-up courses with me for credit. I am certified to teach Spanish and French in the State of Ohio.

During the second half of 2011, I was on call, seven days a week, to do Italian to English press release translations, which appeared on the website of one of Italy's leading newspapers.

I have translated three books from Portuguese, two of which are Paolo Coehlo's "Veronika Decide Morrer (personal project)", and Isabel Craveiro's "A Grande Ogiva", into English.

I completed my English-language translation of Elvio René's "Los Huesos de la Noche" in 2012. That translation was published by WestBow Press.

During 2013 and 2014, I translated journalist George Page's 886-page Italian-language autobiography, "Un'americano di Roma", into English. In all, I have translated somewhere around 40 books, both as personal projects, and for direct clients/authors.  RATES: translation 10-12 cents ($US) per word, negotiable, based on the complexity and length of the source text; proofreading and revisions, 3-4 cents ($US) per source word.
Parole chiave: Literary, journalistic, creative marketing, travel and tourism, general legal, and medical (psychology and psychiatry) translations. All social sciences.
