Once again, it's the text describing a new dehumidification system for the plastic processing industry:

"La tramoggia con la propria Geometria e un rapporto altezza/diametro sempre maggiore di 2 e l’angolazione della parte conica inferiore a 90° è calcolata in modo tale da favorire anche lo scivolamento dei materiali in questo senso più critici, quali i poliuretani o certe gomme termoplastiche; in alcune casi si possono utilizzare anche dei sistemi vibranti per evitare la crescita di **ponti**.

It sounds as though it must be some sort of irregular buildup of the material in the hopper, but I'd appreciate confirmation (or correction).

come ti hanno già confermato, si tratta proprio di accumuli di materiale che ostruiscono l'uscita dalla tramoggia,l'ostruzione che si crea assume la forma di un ponte. Si usa la stessa terminologia anche in italiano, tanto che un tipo di quei sistemi vibranti per eliminare i ponti si chiama "bridge-breaker" (rompiponte). E' una terminologia molto usata nel settore dei silos
