English to Spanish: Balancing corporate power Detailed field: Management
Source text - English People have both the right and duty to sign their work. Subsidiarity requires that people take responsibility for their decisions by signing their work, both literally and metaphorically. The new as well as the old professionals do just that. Your doctor is an individual, not an anonymous "medical supervisor". Films and television programs end with long lists of names - the signatures of all, even the most junior, who contributed. Most journalists sign their work; so do architects, lawyers, professors, clothing designers, and artists. Consultancies' projects teams now put the names of all their members on the title pages of their reports. Advertising agencies do the same. My new Swiss watch arrived with a label stating "Gerard made this." We may not want to know who these people are, but they want to tell us, and that is the important thing. It is a healthy trend in organizations, and it will spread as more work gets done in small, discrete groups.
