Context is an R&D report on static torsion test on a Durchtriebsachse (Hinterachse). I have found various options for Durchtriebsachse including drive-through and through-drive axles (from German sites) divider axle, lead drive axle or split axle. Cannot give much context as it is a confidential report but the Durchtriebsachse is described as being "mit einer Aufspannvorrichtung aus dem Prüfstand auf einem Rost geschraubt". Any general indication that will help me do some further research will help.

From some quick research it looks as though this might be a possibility if it refers to an axle that is one of a pair (tandem) where the drive passes through the one to the other
