The controlled composting biodegradation test is an optimized simulation of an intensive aerobic composting process where the biodegradability of a test item under dry, aerobic conditions is determined. The inoculum consists of stabilized and mature compost derived from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste. The test item is mixed with the inoculum and introduced into static reactor vessels where it is intensively composted under optimum oxygen, temperature and moisture conditions.

وقد يتساءل البعض هل يوجد تسميد متحكم فيه وتسميد غير ذلك ؟
نعم، التسميد الطبيعي موجود في الطبيعة ولكنه قليل وله ظروف خاصة
اما التسميد الصناعي او الذي يتحكم في ظروفه البشر فهو ما يسمى فقط بالتسميد بدون حتى ذلك متحكم فيه

اغلب المصطلحات المتشابهة تعرف بالصفات المرتبطة بها او بالاضافات التي تلحقها
فكلمة تسميد عندما تضاف للتربة تكون تسميد التربة اي اضافة السماد للتربة
وربما هذا الذي علق في ذهن البعض ظناً منهم انه هو هذا المعنى المراد ولكن الامر ليس كذلك
وعندما نقول تسميد النفايات يعني نجعل من النفايات سماداً
والتسميد كمصطلح لوحده يحمل المعنى الثاني اي تسميد المواد لجعلها سماداً
