Russian term

профессиональное суждение

Russian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
I've been editing a translation that contains this expression in a meaning that seems to imply a document of some kind, rather than an abstract concept.

подробные сведения ... в профессиональном суждении отсутствовали.
Профессиональное суждение ... не содержат сведений ...
Источники ... не отражались в профессиональном суждении.

I've left it at "professional judgement", because I can't think of anything better, but I'm not happy with this.

It's all about checking loans, and making sure there's no money laundering.

Can anybody suggest anything better?

Discussion

David Knowles (asker) Aug 29, 2015:
Closed without grading I don't like doing this, but nobody has managed to suggest an answer that encapsulates the idea of a list of evaluations of separate payments. It's obviously not a standard term, so I haven't missed anything.
James McVay Aug 25, 2015:
@Clive Thanks for the clarification. I had no idea that distinction existed in British English.
Clive Wilshin Aug 25, 2015:
Judgment vs judgement Oleg -- there is (or was) a nice distinction in British English between judgement and judgment: the latter is made by a judge, while the former can be used more generally. Unfortunately, this distinction is observed nowadays only by careful writers and either spelling is found in either context. In American English, judgment is simply a misspelling.
James McVay Aug 24, 2015:
@Oleg That's too limited a usage. Anyone can form a judgment, not just judges.
Oleg Lozinskiy Aug 24, 2015:
Judgements are made by JUDGES. All others are usually kindly requested to express their OPINIONS (be it 'professional' or otherwise).:-)
David Knowles (asker) Aug 24, 2015:
This "professional judgement" seems to be something drawn up by the credit institution to justify their loan-making decisions, but it's not entirely clear. The auditors are clearly not impressed by the adequacy of this "professional judgement". I think that's as specific I can be about the details.

evaluation / assessment / report

looks like this 'judgement' is a written document
Note from asker:
Maria - from the context, it can't be an assessment. It could possibly be a "list of assessments" but it seems to relate to a portfolio of loans, not just one loan.

Sorry for the typo: opinIon
Note from asker:
This is not the name of a document, and that's what I'm looking for.

Спасибо, Владимир!
agree Maxim Olshin : Ещё "expert opinion", как вариант.

Спасибо, Максим!
agree Clive Wilshin : Yes, definitely, when it's a written conclusion as in this context, otherwise judgement is fine.

assessing authority

a competent person or an expert who can evaluate or estimate the nature, ability, or quality of something
Note from asker:
This can't be right. It's clearly a document containing rationales for making (or refusing) loans or loan repayments, and the question is what it should be called.

expert opinion

Just my assumption - it may be an earlier translation into Russian of what is called "Expert Opinion", a document composed after reviewing by experts of a documents pakage. The text looks as if earlier translated into Russian, not like originally written in Russian.

For example, FEED documentation must be submitted for HSE experts review. The document they issue is called Expert Opinion.
Note from asker:
It's an original Russian document, but doubtless affected by similar anti-money-laundering legislation in the USA.
