3) & 4) Bent and normal Drive Strap
The drive strap should be an even ‘S’ shape. It is designed to transmit power from the cover to the pressure plate and subsequently the clutch disc. Distortion will cause clutch Drag, harsh clutch operation and clutch Judder.
This is normally caused by: Incorrect bolting sequence used during cover fitment, damage caused during improper alignment of the disc,or dropping the cover prior to fitment.
If all the drive straps have a similar degree of distortion, the cover may have suffered a severe shock during operation from poor driver technique.

Here you see another “new” sewing machine. I bought it on 7th of March. It’s another PFAFF 11, but it’s made in 1925. Its not in perfect condition, it has been used very well. I replaced the driving strap and the rubber on the bobbin winding wheel. After a firm polishing and oiling it looks great in my living- or sewing room with a quilt displayed on it. But I also like to sew on it!

Hier ziet u nog een “nieuwe” machine. Ik heb hem particulier gekocht (via www.marktplaats.nl) op 7 maart 2005. De machine is niet in de allerbeste conditie, je kunt zien dat hij goed gebruikt is. Ik heb de aandrijfriem vervangen (op de foto staat hij nog zonder aandrijfriem) en de spoelrubber. Na een goede poets en oliebeurt werkt de machine weer als vanouds (tenminste dat denk ik) en is het een perfecte plek om een mooie quilt te showen. Overigens was ik een beetje verbaasd over het gemak waarmee nog steeds onderdelen van deze oude machines te koop zijn. Geweldig toch, dat je met een kleine moeite deze machines weer in een perfect werkende staat kunt herstellen.
