ハンドルは回転しそうな感じではないので、--No, not a rotation.
レバーのように押したり引いたりするのだと想定されますが、forward は手前なのかもしれません---Gun axis/shaft: forward/incline downward [muko], trigger/knob: back against the gun handle [temae]. Let's imagine a hand ironing spray gun for pressing the wetted clothe of housewives.

ハンドルが回転するのかレバーのような構造なのか？--Do not mislead with word "handle"; it is just a hand grip, not rotating knob.
文章からすると回転式ではなさそうですが。
forwardも手前なのか向こうなのか--Forward is muko, not temae [If you use a spray gun, bending temae will discharge the spray into the sky, not on the workpiece or the floor. Let's imagine it.]
