Mi experiencia ha sido que... los aseguradores someten la redacción de sus pólizas a un control minucioso, para protegerse contra la posibilidad de que les llegue una ola de reclamaciones de parte de los asegurados debidos a una redacción poco cuidada de la que hubieran aprovechado los clientes para reclamar. Por eso creo que habría que descartar la posibilidad de un fallo de redacción. En cuanto al significado de la locución, se me ocurre que se están refiriendo a los componentes del coche que se pueden robar fácil y rápidamente; las antenas colocadas sobre el techo del coche suelen ser objetivos de robo frecuentes. En el caso de los radios me parece que se están refiriendo a los que son diseñados para ser desmontados a mano a la diferencia de los que son fijos y requieren de un destornillador, por eso se roban con menos frecuencia que los primeros.

Redacción Pienso que el texto en español está pésimamente redactado en mi humilde opinión. Decir si es panel "fue" desmontado en caso de que se pueda es redundante. Si se dice que el panel "fue" (un hecho) deja sobrando lo de "en cado de que se pueda". Si fue un hecho es porque se puede! Por eso insistio en que es el subjuntivo "fuese" (eventualidad)

Para Claudia16 Es el panel desmontable de la radio, aquel que tu sacas cuando te bajas del auto para que no te roben la radio, porque sin el panel no sirve.

I think it talks about the radio cover, some models did them removable to avoid radio - theft (i am not sure it really works, but they tried)

Supongo que éste es uno de esos casos en los que hay opciones. Habrá modelos en los que no se puede desmontar dicho panel, y otros en los que sí se puede.

that is the name panel = dashboard

This is slang for instrument panel, techs use that term
es como los americanos dice eso..simepre significa instrument panel pero solo dice "panel" porque todo el mundo save eso.
