Italiano term

parere penale

Da Italiano a Inglese Legale/Brevetti Legale (generale) Court document
This is an application for an injunction. The barrister is looking into the plaintiff's activities (porn site) and preparing an appraisal. "A tal fine, ci si è premurati di predisporre un parere penale con l'ausilio della Prof. Francesca Ruggieri, ordinario di diritto processuale penale presso l'Università dell'Insubria-Como, che ha ritenuto del tutto leciti i contenuti e i servizi del sito internet di xxxxx". How do I translate this into English please? "Criminal opinion" sounds wrong. Thanks!

Heather P Yes Its much the same..particulkarly here, as another poster pointed out, the context makes it clear that Prof etc was in fact an expert on the subject.. so you couldnt go much wrong with most of the answers.
Heather Phillips (asker) Oct 11, 2010:
Hi, I went for expert legal advice in the end, nice and simple and clear.

Re-translation... Hi Heather, I'm translating this exact same text right now and stopped to research this same sentence. What term did you use in the end? I'm thinking legal advice...

agree philgoddard : It says later on that he's an expert in criminal law, so it would be not only unnecessary but wrong to repeat it.

assessment of criminal liability

should work here

could insert "possible" before "criminal liability", seeing as none was actually found
Peer comment(s):

agree Mr Murray (X) : I would use 'assessment' for 'parere' - nice job. And the syntax sounds right - definitely not 'criminal assessment.'

opinion from a criminal law perspective

as to whether the content of the website is legal. In essence, I want to know if he is breaking the law and if he is, which ones so I ask a criminal law expert to issue his/her opinion.

legal advice

seek legal advice ....
Normal English usage
Obvious from the continuation that the lawyer in question is a criminal lawyer, so this should be sufficient.
