This stuff is highly specific. Specific to the particular company/industry. People don't normally send materials to their suppliers. So which specific translation you use is not so important, as long as it goes with the explanation. "in-process" materials is a standard accounting term for stuff half-way between raw materials and finished products. It is a cost and is stated at cost.
