Source text - English Cazaril heard the mounted horsemen on the road before he saw them. He glanced over his shoulder. The well-worn track behind him curled up around a rolling rise, what passed for a hill on these high windy plains, before dipping again into the late-winter muck of Baocia’s bony soil. At his feet a little rill, too small and intermittent to rate a culvert or a bridge, trickled greenly across the track from the sheep-cropped pastures above. The thump of hooves, jangle of harness, clink of bells, creak of gear and careless echo of voices came on at too quick a rhythm to be some careful farmer with a team, or parsimonious pack-men driving their mules.
The cavalcade trotted around the side of the rise riding two by two, in full panoply of their order, some dozen men. Not bandits—Cazaril let out his breath, and swallowed his unsettled stomach back down. Not that he had anything to offer bandits but sport. He trudged a little way off the track and turned to watch them pass.
The horsemen’s chain shirts were silvered, glinting in the watery morning sunlight, for show, not for use. Their tabards of blue, dyes almost matching one with another, were worked with white in the sigil of the Lady of Spring. Their gray cloaks were thrown back like banners in the breeze of their passing, pinned at their shoulders with silver badges that had all the tarnish polished off today. Soldier-brothers of ceremony, not of war; they would have no desire to get Cazaril’s stubborn bloodstains on those clothes.
To Cazaril’s surprise, their captain held up a hand as they came near. The column crashed raggedly to a halt, the squelch and suck of the hooves trailing off in a way that would have had Cazaril’s father’s old horse-master bellowing grievous and entertaining insults at such a band of boys as this. Well, no matter.
“You there, old fellow,” the leader called across the saddlebow of his banner-carrier at Cazaril.
Cazaril, alone on the road, barely kept his head from swiveling around to see who was being so addressed. They took him for some local farm lout, trundling to market or on some errand, and he supposed he looked the part: worn boots mud-weighted, a thick jumble of mismatched charity clothes keeping the chill southeast wind from freezing his bones. He was grateful to all the gods of the year’s turning for every grubby stitch of that fabric, eh. Two weeks of beard itching his chin. Fellow indeed. The captain might with justice have chosen more scornful appellations. But... old?
The captain pointed down the road to where another track crossed it. “Is that the road to Valenda?”
It had been... Cazaril had to stop and count it in his head, and the sum dismayed him. Seventeen years since he had ridden last down this road, going off not to ceremony but to real war in the provincar of Baocia’s train. Although bitter to be riding a gelding and not a finer warhorse, he’d been just as glossy-haired and young and arrogant and vain of his dress as the fine young animals up there staring down at him. Today, I should be happy for a donkey, though I had to bend my knees to keep from trailing my toes in the mud. Cazaril smiled back up at the soldier-brothers, fully aware of what hollowed-out purses lay gaping and disemboweled behind most of those rich facades.
They stared down their noses at him as though they could smell him from there. He was not a person they wished to impress, no lord or lady who might hand down largesse to them as they might to him; still, he would do for them to practice their aristocratic airs upon. They mistook his returning stare for admiration, perhaps, or maybe just for half-wittedness.
He bit back the temptation to steer them wrong, up into some sheep byre or wherever that deceptively broad-looking crossroad petered out. No trick to pull on the Daughter’s own guardsmen on the eve of the Daughter’s Day. And besides, the men who joined the holy military orders were not especially noted for their senses of humor, and he might pass them again, being bound for the same town himself. Cazaril cleared his throat, which hadn’t spoken to a man since yesterday. “No, Captain. The road to Valenda has a roya’s milestone.” Or it had, once. “A mile or three farther on. You can’t mistake it.” He pulled a hand out of the warmth of the folds of his coat, and waved onward. His fingers didn’t really straighten right, and he found himself waving a claw. The chill air bit his swollen joints, and he tucked his hand hastily back into its burrow of cloth.
The captain nodded at his banner-carrier, a thick-shouldered... fellow, who cradled his banner pole in the crook of his elbow and fumbled out his purse. He fished in it, looking no doubt for a coin of sufficiently small denomination. He had a couple brought up to the light, between his fingers, when his horse jinked.
Translation - Romanian Cazaril auzi tropotul cailor pe drum înainte să-i zărească pe călăreţi venind. Privi în treacăt peste umăr. Poteca bătătorită din urma sa, făcea un ocol în jurul unei movile rotunde, ceea ce arăta mai curând ca un deal pe acele podişuri înalte bătute de vânt, până să se afunde din nou în mocirla de iarnă târzie a pământului sterp din Baocia. La picioarele sale, un făgaş prea mic şi lipsit de un curs continuu de apă ca să fie nevoie să i se construiască un podeţ, se prelingea alene, încărcat de buruieni, tăind de-a curmezişul calea care cobora de pe păşunile din deal, cultivate pentru păstorit. Bătaia copitelor, zăngănitul harnaşamentelor, clinchetul clopoţeilor, scrâşnetul armurilor şi ecoul nepăsător al vocilor se apropiau cu prea mult tumult ca să fi fost vorba de vreun ţăran cu carul său tras de-o pereche de cai ori niscai şerpaşi cărpănoşi care-şi mânau catârii.
Cavalcada făcu înconjurul dealului la trap şi, călărind doi câte doi, cu toată pompa, vreo doişpe oameni la număr îşi făcură apariţia. Nu erau tâlhari – răsuflă uşurat Cazaril, liniştindu-se după ce-i venise inima la gură. Nu că s-ar fi ales cu ceva tâlharii la el, în afară de niţică alergătură. Se feri în lături de pe cărare şi se întoarse ca să-i privească în vreme ce treceau.
Cămăşile din zale ale călăreţilor erau argintate, lucind în lumina lăptoasă a zorilor, doar de fală nicidecum pentru vreun folos practic. Livrelele lor vopsite-n albastru, aproape aidoma una cu alta, erau lucrate cu fir alb întruchipând emblema Crăiesei Primăverii. Mantalele cenuşii le fluturau în urmă ca nişte stindarde în goana cailor, prinse la umeri cu paftale din argint cărora li se dusese lustrul de altădată. Ostaşi din frăţie care mergeau la paradă, nicidecum la război, cu siguranţă că n-ar fi avut poftă să-şi păteze asemenea straie cu sângele lui Cazaril.
Spre mirarea acestuia, căpitanul lor ridică o mână în aer în timp ce se apropiau. Cei din coloană se opriră deodată de-a valma la semnalul căpitanului, în scrâşnet de copită târâtă prin praf într-un asemenea hal că l-ar fi făcut pe dresorul de cai al tatălui lui Cazaril să-mproaşte răcnind ocări înverşunate şi totodată hazlii, unei asemenea adunături de derbedei. Dar bine...asta mai puţin contează.
- Hei, cetăţene! Bătrâne! strigă la Cazaril conducătorul oştii din şaua pe care era înfipt drapelul.
Cazaril, care era singur pe drum, abia se abţinu să nu întoarcă capul să vadă cine era strigat în felul acela. Îl luaseră drept un ţărănoi, care tândălea pe drumul către piaţă ori era însărcinat cu vreun comision iar el bănui că arăta într-adevăr aşa: cu nişte cizme vechi, încărcate de noroi, îmbrăcat cu o grămadă de bulendre pestriţe de căpătat care-i fereau ciolanele de vântul aspru dinspre miazăzi. Of, le era recunoscător tuturor zeilor cumpenei dintre ani pentru fiecare nenorocită de cusătură din acele zdrenţe care-i acopereau goliciunea. Barba nerasă de două săptămâni, îi dădea mâncărimi pe obraz. Cetăţean, de bună seamă. Căpitanul ar fi putut la fel de bine să-i găsească apelative cu mult mai dispreţuitoare. Bine-bine, dar ... bătrân?
Căpitanul arătă cu degetul în jos la cărarea pe care o altă cale o întretăia.
- Ăsta-i drumul care duce la Valenda?
Fusese pe vremuri. Cazaril fu nevoit să se oprească şi să socotească în minte, iar cifra îl uimi. Şaptesprezece ani trecuseră de când a străbătut călare ultima oară acel drum, pornind nu la paradă, ci la război adevărat, în armata provincarului de Baocia. Cu toată amărăciunea că trebuia să mergă la război pe-o mârţoagă jugănită şi nu pe-un cal mai de soi, şi el purta pe atunci părul la fel de lucitor şi era tot aşa de tânăr şi de ţanţoş şi de fudul de straiele sale ca şi armăsarii aceia arătoşi care priveau acum în jos la el. M-aş mulţumi azi şi c-un biet măgar, deşi a trebuit să mă milogesc şi pentru o pereche de încălţări să nu-mi târăsc picioarele desculţe prin noroi. Cazaril le răspunse cu un zâmbet oştenilor care făcea parte din frăţie, dându-şi seama cât de supte le erau pungile care zăceau cu băierile larg căscate în spatele acelor înfăţişări prospere.
Cu toţii îl măsurară din priviri ca şi cum l-ar fi adulmecat de la distanţă. Nu era el omul pe care să vrea să-l impresioneze, nu era vreun nobil nici vreo cucoană de rang mare care să-i milostivească cu ceva, aşa cum o puteau face ei cu el; în schimb, nu era nici el chiar de lepădat căci îşi puteau măsura ifosele de aristocraţi pe seama lui. Pesemne că luară drept admiraţie felul în care se uitase la ei, ori doar un soi de nerozie.
Fu cât pe-aci să cadă pradă ispitei de a-i îndruma într-aiurea, către vreun staul de oi ori în orice altă parte unde ar fi putut duce acea răscruce mare şi înşelătoare. Nu era nici o şmecherie să-i duci de nas pe cei din gărzile personale ale Fiicei taman în ajun de Ziua Fiicei. În plus de asta, oamenii care făceau parte din sfintele ordine militare nu se remarcau în mod special pentru simţul umorului şi ar fi putut să dea din nou nas în nas cu ei, pentru că se îndrepta şi el către acelaşi oraş. Îşi drese vocea, căci de o zi nu mai schimbase o vorbă cu nimeni.
- Nu, Căpitane. Drumul către Valenda-i marcat cu borne regale. Sau cel puţin, aşa era înainte, se gândi el. E la vreo două-trei mile mai încolo. Şi n-aveţi cum să-l luaţi drept altul. Spunând acestea, îşi scoase o mână afară din faldurile călduroase ale hainei şi-o flutură făcând semn îninte. Nu-şi putea ţine degetele drepte, asa că se pomeni fluturând un fel de gheară. Aerul rece îi muşcă încheieturile umflate şi îşi cuibări degrabă mâna înapoi în adăpostul hainelor.
Căpitanul făcu un semn cu capul către purtătorul drapelului, un ... companion lat în umeri care îşi legănă prăjina steagului în îndoitura cotului, scotocind după punga cu bani. Pescui din ea, dibuind fără îndoială după vreo monedă de valoare cât mai mică şi scoase vreo două la lumină între degete, când calul său se smuci într-o parte.

Source text - English Ista leaned forward between the crenellations atop the gate tower, the stone gritty beneath her pale hands, and watched in numb exhaustion as the final mourning party cleared the castle gate below. Their horses’ hooves scraped on the old cobblestones, and their good-byes echoed in the portal’s vaulting. Her earnest brother, the provincar of Baocia, and his family and retinue were last of the many to leave, two full weeks after the divines had completed the funeral rites and ceremonies of the interment.
Dy Baocia was still talking soberly to the castle warder, Ser dy Ferrej, who walked at his stirrup, grave face upturned, listening to the stream, no doubt, of final instructions. Faithful dy Ferrej, who had served the late Dowager Provincara for all the last two decades of her long residence here in Valenda. The keys of the castle and keep glinted from the belt at his stout waist. Her mother’s keys, which Ista had collected and held, then turned over to her older brother along with all the other papers and inventories and instructions that a great lady’s death entailed. And that he had handed back for permanent safekeeping not to his sister, but to good, old, honest dy Ferrej. Keys to lock out all danger . . . and, if necessary, Ista in.
It’s only habit, you know. I’m not mad anymore, really.
It wasn’t as though she wanted her mother’s keys, nor her mother’s life that went with them. She scarcely knew what she wanted. She knew what she feared—to be locked up in some dark, narrow place by people who loved her. An enemy might drop his guard, weary of his task, turn his back; love would never falter. Her fingers rubbed restlessly on the stone.
Dy Baocia’s cavalcade filed off down the hill through the town and was soon lost from her view among the crowded red-tiled roofs. Dy Ferrej, turning back, walked wearily in through the gate and out of sight.
Translation - Romanian Ista se aplecă printre crenelurile din vârful turnului porţii, sprijinindu-se pe piatra grunjoasă cu mâinile ei albe, şi privi în jos cu o sfârşeală mută în vreme ce ultimii rămaşi la priveghi se făceau nevăzuţi pe poarta castelului. Caii lor băteau cu copitele pe lespezile roase de timp ale pavajului, iar strigătele lor de rămas-bun răsunau prin portalul boltit. Prea-cinstitul ei frate, Provincarul de Baocia, împreună cu familia şi suita sa, erau ultimii rămaşi din mulţimea care trebuia să plece, la două săptămâni încheiate după ce preoţii sfârşiseră ritualurile funerare şi ceremoniile de înmormântare.
Dy Baocia mai stătea încă de vorbă pe un ton moderat cu indendentul castelului, Ser dy Ferrej, care se îndrepta spre scara şeii acestuia, cu o mină gravă pe chipul ridicat în timp ce asculta, fără îndoială, şuvoiul unor ultime porunci. Nu că ar fi vrut înapoi cheile mamei ei, nici viaţa mamei ei care s-a dus odată cu ele. Nici măcar nu ştia prea bine ce vroia. Ştia de ce se temea în schimb – să fie închisă într-un spaţiu strâmt, întunecat, de oameni care o iubeau. Un duşman şi-ar fi putut slăbi vigilenţa, istovit de atâta pază, ar fi lăsat garda jos; dragostea însă n-ar fi putut da greş. Îşi frământă cu nelinişte degetele pe piatra zgrunţuroasă a zidului.
Cavalcada lui dy Baocia se împrăştie pe coasta dealului, coborându-se la vale, înspre cetate, iar în curând se pierdu în zare, prin mulţimea de acoperişuri din ţiglă roşie. Întorcându-se, Dy Ferrej păşi istovit înăuntru, pe poartă, dispărând şi el din vedere.

Source text - English T HE PRINCE WAS DEAD.
Since the king was not, no unseemly rejoicing dared show in the faces of the men atop the castle gate. Merely, Ingrey thought, a furtive relief. Even that was extinguished as they watched Ingrey’s troop of riders clatter under the gate’s vaulting into the narrow courtyard. They recognized who he was—and, therefore, who must have sent him.
Ingrey’s sweat grew clammy under his leather jerkin in the damp dullness of the autumn morning. The chill seemed cupped within the cobbled yard, funneled down by the whitewashed walls. The lightly armed courier bearing the news had raced from the prince’s hunting seat here at Boar’s Head Castle to the hallow king’s hall at Easthome in just two days. Ingrey and his men, though more heavily equipped, had made the return journey in scarcely more time. As a castle groom scurried to take his horse’s bridle, Ingrey swung down and straightened his scabbard, fingers lingering only briefly on the reassuring coolness of his sword hilt.
The late Prince Boleso’s housemaster, Rider Ulkra, appeared around the keep from wherever he’d been lurking when Ingrey’s troop had been spied climbing the road. Stout, usually stolid, he was breathless now with apprehension and hurry. He bowed. “Lord Ingrey. Welcome. Will you take drink and meat?”
“I’ve no need. See to these, though.” He gestured to the half dozen men who followed him. The troop’s lieutenant, Rider Gesca, gave him an acknowledging nod of thanks, and Ulkra delivered men and horses into the hands of the castle servants.
Ingrey followed Ulkra up the short flight of steps to the thick-planked main doors. “What have you done so far?”
Ulkra lowered his voice. “Waited for instructions.” Worry scored his face; the men in Boleso’s service were not long on initiative at the best of times. “Well, we moved the body into the cool. We could not leave it where it was. And we secured the prisoner.”
What sequence, for this unpleasant inspection? “I’ll see the body first,” Ingrey decided.
“Yes, my lord. This way. We cleared one of the butteries.”
They passed through the cluttered hall, the fire in its cavernous fieldstone fireplace allowed to burn low, the few red coals half-hidden in the ashes doing nothing to improve the discomfort of the chamber. A shaggy deerhound, gnawing a bone on the hearth, growled at them from the shadows. Down a staircase, through a kitchen where a cook and scullions fell silent and made themselves small as they passed, down again into a chilly chamber ill lit by two small windows high in the rocky walls.
The little room was presently unfurnished but for two trestles, the boards laid across them, and the sheeted shape that lay silently upon the boards. Reflexively, Ingrey signed himself, touching forehead, lip, navel, groin, and heart, spreading his hand over his heart: one theological point for each of the five gods. Daughter-Bastard-Mother-Father-Son. And where were all of You when this happened?

De vreme ce regele nu era, nici unul din bărbaţii aflaţi deasupra porţii castelului nu îndrăznea să îşi arate făţiş veselia, necuvenită în asemenea momente. Ci doar o uşurare ascunsă, se gândi Ingrey. Până şi expresia aceea li se topi de pe chipuri în timp ce priveau trupa de călăreţi ai lui Ingrey trecând în tropot de copite pe sub arcada porţii şi pătrunzând în curtea îngustă. Îl recunoscuseră – şi, prin urmare, ghiciră şi de cine fusese trimis.
Ingrey îşi simţi sudoarea lipicioasă pe sub vesta din piele în umezeala aceea dezolantă a dimineţii de toamnă. Răcoarea părea să săpată în pietrele din pavajul curţii, scursă în şuvoaie de pe zidurile spoite în alb. Mesagerul fără prea multe arme care adusese vestea, gonise de la cetatea de scaun de aici de la Castelul Cap de Mistreţ, unde se vâna, până la conacul sfântului rege, din Easthome, în doar două zile. Ingrey şi oamenii lui, deşi îngreunaţi de arme, făcuseră cale întoarsă cam tot în atâta timp. În vreme ce un rândaş de la castel dădea zor să-i ia calul de frâu, Ingrey sări din şa şi îşi îndreptă teaca sabiei, zăbovind pentru o clipă cu degetele pe mânerul rece care-i dădea siguranţă.
Intendentul răposatului Prinţ Boleso, Călăreţul Ulkra, îşi făcu apariţia de după donjon de cine-ştie-unde pândise până atunci, de când trupa lui Ingrey fusese zărită de iscoade urcând pieptiş drumul. Robust, de obicei placid, de data asta gâfâia de teamă şi graba cu care venise. Făcu o plecăciune.
- Lord Ingrey. Bun venit. Nu vreţi să beţi sau să mâncaţi ceva vânat?
- Mie nu-mi trebuie. Dar îngrijeşte-te de ei.
Zicând acestea, făcu un semn înspre mâna de oameni care îl însoţiseră. Locotenentul trupei, Călăreţul Gesca, îi adresă un semn de mulţumire din cap, iar Ulkra lăsă oamenii şi caii în mâinile slujbaşilor de la castel.
Ingrey urcă un grup de trepte în urma lui Ulkra către uşile principale, căptuşite cu blană groasă de lemn.
- Ce-ai făcut până acum?
Ulkra îi spuse cu glas scăzut:
- Am aşteptat indicaţii.
Pe chip i se întipărise îngrijorarea; oamenii din slujba lui Boleso duceau lipsă de iniţiativă chiar şi în cele mai bune împrejurări.
- Adică, am mutat corpul la rece. Nu puteam să îl lăsăm acolo unde era. Şi am dus-o la loc ferit pe prizonieră.
De unde să înceapă inspecţia asta neplăcută?
- Am să văd cadavrul mai întâi, se hotărî Ingrey.
- Da, milord. Pe aici. Am eliberat una din cămări.
Trecură prin holul de la intrare aflat în neorânduială, cu focul din căminul găunos lăsat să ardă mocnit; cei câţiva cărbuni pe jumătate ascunşi în cenuşă nu îmbunătăţeau cu nimic disconfortul din încăpere. Un ogar lăţos, care morfolea un ciolan pe vatra focului, mârâi la ei din umbră. O luară în jos pe scară, prin bucătărie unde un bucătar şi ajutoarele lui tăcură şi se făcură mici cât trecură pe lângă ei, coborâră iar într-o odaie răcoroasă şi slab luminată de două ferestre mici, săpate undeva sus în zidurile durate din lespezi mari de piatră.
Odaia micuţă nu era acum mobilată decât de două piedestaluri cu plăci aşezate de-a latul lor, iar o siluetă învelită în giulgiu zăcea tăcută pe acele plăci. Îngândurat, Ingrey îşi făcu semnul sfânt, atingându-şi fruntea, buzele, buricul şi stinghia piciorului, răsfirându-şi degetele desupra inimii: câte un punct teologic pentru fiecare din cele cinci zeităţi. Fiică-Bastard-Maică-Părinte-Fiu. Oare unde eraţi voi toţi atunci când s-a întâmplat asta?

Source text - Romanian Business Plan-ul pe 2009 – dezbătut punct cu punct
La sfârşitul lunii septembrie, circa 50 de manageri ai ArcelorMittal au participat la un seminar la Mamaia în care s-au dezbătut prevederile din Planul de Afaceri pe anul viitor. „Nu este vorba despre cifre ci despre ce trebuie să facem ca să fim mai buni, ce trebuie să hotărâm în privinţa paşilor următori, pentru a ne îmbunătăţi performanţele”, spunea Augustine Kochuparampil, în deschiderea lucrărilor. „Anul 2009 va fi un an important în ceea ce priveşte şi stabilizarea producţiei şi, mai ales, îmbunătăţirea calităţii”, spunea şi Christian Dessiaume, Chief Operations Officer.
După cum se ştie, strategia anilor viitori este ca, pe termen scurt, să stabilizăm producţia la 4,5 milioane de tone urmând ca mai apoi să ajungem „în zona” de 7 milioane de tone producţie, în anii 2011 – 2013.
O atenţie deosebită a fost acordată tendinţelor de pe piaţă precum şi măsurilor care să conducă la satisfacerea nevoilor clienţilor, atât la calitate cât şi în privinţa livrărilor.
Chiar dacă a fost vorba despre Planul de Afaceri, „deschiderea” a aparţinut celor de la Securitate şi Sănătate în Muncă. Echipa S.S.M. a prezentat concluziile acestui an şi obiectivele anului viitor. De altfel, fiecare segment de producţie care şi-a prezentat raportul şi obiectivele a început cu chestiunile de Securitate în Muncă, acestea fiind, şi pe viitor, prioritare.
Sectoarele de producţie şi-au prezentat obiectivele pe anul 2009, şi nu doar cifrele care se doresc a fi atinse ci şi problemele care se vor a fi rezolvate. Discuţiile s-au axat pe exploatarea eficientă a utilajelor, realizarea unor reparaţii de calitate şi rapide precum şi de îmbunătăţirea condiţiilor de lucru pentru muncitori. În privinţa calităţii, specialiştii noştri au atras atenţia asupra necesităţii îmbunătăţirii atitudinii faţă de clienţi, reducerea termenelor de rezolvare a plângerilor de calitate şi rezolvarea problemelor legate de manipulările din Porturi.
Şi specialiştii noştri în Mentenanţă au avansat unele idei, printre care implementarea sistemului „Total Product Maintenance”, adoptarea softului IVARA, pentru creşterea eficienţei forţei de lucru (atât cea proprie cât şi contractorii) precum şi punerea la punct a unui control comun Producţie – Mentenanţă în privinţa costurilor.
„Trebuie să arătăm mai multă implicare, trebuie să facem mai mult decât rutina zilnică, să eliberăm o energie pozitivă pentru a ne mobiliza mai bine”, spunea la finalul lucrărilor Ionel Borş, Senior Director Executiv. „Există multe zone în care putem îmbunătăţi lucrurile fără a fi nevoiţi să apelăm la investiţii. Dar pentru asta trebuie să lucrăm mai mult, să fim mai concentraţi”, a conchis, la încheierea Seminarului, Augustine Kochuparampil, Directorul General al ArcelorMittal.
Translation - English The Business Plan for 2009 – analyzed in detail
Approximately 50 managers of ArcelorMittal Galaţi participated at the end of September in a seminar at Mamaia, where the provisions of the Business Plan for the next years have been debated. „It is not about figures, but about what we have to do to become better, about what we have to decide as regards the next steps to take in order to improve our performance”, Augustine Kochuparampil stated in the opening of the session. „The year 2009 will an important year in terms of stabilizing the production and most of all, when it comes to improving the quality of our services”, as Christian Dessiaume, Chief Operations Officer, puts it.
As we well know, the strategy for the next years is that of stabilizing on a short-term the 4,5 million tons production and then to grow it around 7 million tones in the interval 2011 – 2013.
A special attention has been given to the actual tendencies on the market, as well as the measures to bring about the fulfillment of the client requirements, both in terms of quality and delivery.
Even if the meeting was focused on the Business Plan, the “opening” of the session belonged to the specialists from the Health and Safety department. The H&S team presented the conclusions of this year and the objectives for the next year. In fact, every production segment presented its report and objectives, but the Health and Safety issues remain our first priority for the future.
The debates focused on the efficient running of the installations, on a qualitative and quick maintenance, as well as the improvement of the working conditions. A special emphasis was put on the technological consumption reduction.
As far as the quality is concerned, our specialists have drawn attention on the necessity of improving the attitude towards the clients, on shortening the deadlines for quality complaints and on solving the problems related to the handling the goods in the Port area.
Our maintenance specialists brought forth some ideas, among which the implementation of the system „Total Product Maintenance”, the adoption of the IVARA software for increasing the efficiency of the workforce (both our own and our contractors’) as well as establishing a common checking activities for Production & Maintenance as regards the costs.
“We need to show a better involvement, we need to go beyond the daily routine, to release a positive energy in order to mobilize ourselves better” – that is the final idea that Ionel Borş, The Senior Executive Director, conveyed at the end of seminar.
„There are a lot of fields in which we can improve without being compelled to make investments. But in order to achieve this, we should work harder, be more focused”, Augustine Kochuparampil, the General Director of ArcelorMittal Galaţi, concluded the seminar .

Besides, I have a colaboration with a printing house from Bucharest (Tritonic) and two novels translated and published up to now ("The Curse of Chalion" and "The Paladin of Souls" by Lois McMaster Bujold. The third is to come out shortly ("The Hallowed Hunt").
Previously, I have been working since graduation (1999) in the local and national media as a reporter and editor (Media Pro International and Publimedia), as a correspondent for a national daily publication (Jurnalul national) and also as a manager assistant in a television production company (Mediavision).
During 1998-2000, I worked as an English teacher in a kindergarten.
I graduated the Faculty of Letters from Galati ("Dunarea de Jos"), specialized in English-French.
