Translation - English ABSTRACT
This work aims to discuss how representations of subjects who escape heteronormativity, in comics, bring up a constructed dominant discourse, lined in a "heterosexual matrix", often reproduced as natural. Inasmuch, we explore the insights provided by Queer studies to analyze how the protagonists, in the comic stories Super-Gay (1982), by Watson Portela, Rocky e Hudson e outras histórias (2004), by Adão Iturrusgarai, Mariana e Claudinha (2008-2012), by Fernando Duarte and Muriel (2009-2013), by Laerte Coutinho, differ themselves from the normative patterns of gender and sexuality. By also addressing studies on humor, we demonstrate how these characters dialogue with divergent identities and their stereotypes as forms of cultural representation, and how
these works' comicality can reinforce or refute the mainstream discourse.

Source text - English One Month Later, Water Crisis Continues to Punish Rio de Janeiro Peripheries
As political appointees rush to explain themselves, worries of privatization linger among community activists.
January 3, under a smashing summer sun, with temperatures exceeding 35°C (95°F), residents of the Baixada Fluminense, as well as the West and North Zones of Rio de Janeiro, began to notice problems with their tap water. Even pulled from Rio’s ubiquitous faucet filters, the water was murky and smelly; it tasted like earth. As worried residents rushed to supermarkets, the price of bottled water spiked. In a matter of days, the problem had extended to the whole city.
Translation - Portuguese Um Mês Depois, Crise da Água Continua a Punir a Periferia do Rio
